Brandy has the world's most sinister mother-in-law in A24's upcoming horror The Front Room.

Directed by Max and Sam Eggers (brothers of The Witch's Robert Eggers), the film sees the icon playing Belinda, who's suddenly in a deeply precarious living situation with her husband's racist and creepy as hell stepmother, Solange (Kathryn Hunter).

Newly pregnant and overwhelmingly done with Solange's disturbing behaviour, Belinda realises her child might also be in danger thanks to their outstandingly unwelcome guest. But convincing her husband (Neal Huff) won't be easy, so it seems she might have to take matters into her own hands.

If you're into A24 horror films, you'll know this will inevitably get pretty fucked up. We're in.

The Front Room hits cinemas Sept. 6.
